Since 2008, only Japanese factories have assembled the 1.3-liter Toyota 1NR-FE engine. The motor comes in two versions: EURO 3 for developing nations and EURO 4/5 for other countries. Additionally, bioethanol 1NR-FBE and two additional Chinese 4NR-FE and 6NR-FE are modified.

The engines in the NR family are 3NR-FE, 8NR-FTS, 1NR-FE, 1NR-VE, 1NR-FKE, 2NR-FE, 2NR-VE, and 2NR-FKE.
The engine was mounted on:

Disadvantages of the 1NR-FE engine
Many owners report a tiny oil burner that increases in mileage;
A water pump and separate ignition coils make up a small resource;
The power unit is vulnerable to the quick development of carbon deposits because of the EGR valve malfunction;
Many people complain about the motor’s unnecessary noises, particularly those caused by VVT clutches.
