Engine Mercedes M273

Disadvantages of the Mercedes M273 engine

The timing drive is the unit’s weak point, and it is regarded as problematic.
Before 100,000 kilometers, the timing kit must be replaced due to wear on the intermediate gear.
A damper wedge in the exhaust manifold is a frequent cause of engine failure.
Oil frequently seeps through the cylinder heads’ plastic plugs.
Engine overheating may result in detonation and damage to the combustion chamber walls.
