The Volvo D7F290 is a 7.2-liter, in-line, six-cylinder, intercooled, turbocharged diesel engine. Engine torque: 1070 Nm, power: 290 HP. The engine satisfies US regulations regarding the Euro-5 standard’s exhaust gas toxicity level.

The engine has a single cylinder head and a camshaft in the center that uses pushers to regulate the four valves in each cylinder. Electronic control is used for the engine. The “Common Rail” system is used for fuel injection. The engine meets the Euro 5 emission standard when paired with a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system.

Engine Benefits

remarkable flexibility. Because of its exceptionally broad torque range, the Volvo D7F290 engine can run in a cost-effective rpm range with few gear changes. Excellent torque at low revs allows for smoother driving and rapid accelerator response.
effective combustion. The EMS electronic engine management system guarantees accurate fuel injection and effective combustion, resulting in low emissions and fuel consumption.
minimal volume of noise. The length of the fuel injection interval varies. Emissions and engine noise levels are improved as a result. Prior to the main portion being injected, a tiny amount of fuel is injected.
control of exhaust toxicity. SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) technology is used in conjunction with optimal combustion technology to further treat the exhaust gases. Prior to the exhaust gases entering the SCR catalytic converter, AdBlue is injected into it. AdBlue considerably lowers emissions by reacting with nitric oxide.
lengthy pauses between maintenance tasks. Because the cylinder block and cylinder head are composed of cast iron, the base is both sturdy and lightweight. Oil-immersed cylinder liners are interchangeable. The liners’ flat, polished interior enhances bore lubrication, which lowers piston ring wear and prolongs engine life.
Regeneration and cleaning under control. A Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is installed in the D7F 290 engine. Only fine ash remains after the tiny soot particles in the exhaust gases are captured and burned out during the regeneration process. Although this process is automated, you will be alerted if manual regeneration is necessary, such as in an environmentally clean area.
