Produced between 1998 and 2002, the 2.0-liter 8-valve Volkswagen AQY engine was used in the well-known Golf 4 model and its numerous variants, such as the Skoda Octavia. This engine was modified for EURO 2 using an APK index and one lambda probe.

APK, AQY, AXA, AZJ, AZM, ALT, and BSX are all part of the EA113-2.0 series.

Disadvantages of the VW AQY engine
Owners are only concerned about minor issues with this straightforward and dependable engine.
The primary issues with this motor are related to ignition system component failures.
Additionally, the electrician is frequently unreliable: the crankshaft position sensor or the idle speed controller typically malfunction.
The timing belt resource is about 90,000 kilometers, but the valves do not bend when it breaks.
* In addition, there are instances where the valves bend after the belt skips a half-turn. See the comments for more information.
Piston rings frequently lie down and an oil burn starts after 250,000 kilometers of operation.
