The company’s smallest models, the Spark and Matiz, were equipped with the 1.0-liter Chevrolet B10S1 or LA2 engine, which was manufactured in South Korea between 2002 and 2009. Before 2004, the power unit was significantly different and was commonly known as just the B10S.

The engines in the B series are B10S1, B10D1, B12S1, B12D1, B12D2, and B15D2.
The engine was installed on:

Disadvantages of the B10S1 engine
Although this engine rarely lasts longer than 200,000 kilometers, it is not regarded as problematic;
A notable decrease in cylinder compression is an indication of an impending overhaul;
Every 40,000 kilometers, the timing belt with a roller must be replaced; if it breaks, the valve will be bent;
Every 50,000 kilometers, valve clearances need to be adjusted; there are no hydraulic lifters; low-quality gasoline causes fuel injectors to clog and candles to quickly deteriorate.
