Popular concern models like the Lacetti and Captiva were equipped with the 2.0-liter Chevrolet Z20S1, Z20DM, or LMN engine, which was manufactured between 2006 and 2011. The Italian company VM Motori created this diesel engine, which has its own index, RA 420 SOHC 16V.

The Z series also includes engines: Z20S, Z20D1 and Z22D1.
The engine was installed on:
- Chevrolet Captiva C100 in 2006 – 2010;
- Chevrolet Lacetti J200 in 2007 – 2011;
- Opel Antara in 2006 – 2010.

Disadvantages of the Z20S1 engine
This unit dislikes poor fuel, just like any contemporary Common Rail diesel;
It was discovered that fuel injectors were particularly vulnerable to inferior diesel fuel;
The valve nearly always bends when the timing belt resource, which is approximately 60,000 kilometers, breaks.
