European versions of well-known models like the Compass, Caliber, and Journey were equipped with the 2.0-liter Dodge ECE or 2.0 CRD diesel engine, which was manufactured between 2006 and 2011. This motor was one of the BWD versions of the Volkswagen 2.0 TDI diesel.

Internal combustion engines (ECD) are also available in the Volkswagen series.
The engine was installed on:
- Dodge Caliber 1 (PM) in 2006 – 2011;
- Dodge Journey 1 (JC) in 2008 – 2011;
- Jeep Compass 1 (MK) in 2007 – 2010;
- Jeep Patriot 1 (MK) in 2007 – 2010.

Disadvantages of the ECE engine
The vagaries of piezoelectric pump injectors cause the majority of the issues;
Additionally, the turbocharger’s geometry frequently wedges here as a result of pollution;
When the 120,000 km timing belt breaks, a significant overhaul is typically required;
Owners complain on the forums about oil consumption of up to one liter per thousand kilometers; a particulate filter and an EGR cause a lot of problems, just like in any modern diesel engine.
