From 2006 to 2011, European versions of several well-known models, including the Avenger, Caliber, and Sebring, were equipped with the 2.0-liter Chrysler ECD or 2.0 CRD diesel engine. Under the BYL index, this diesel engine is basically a Volkswagen 2.0 TDI engine.

Internal combustion engines, or ECEs, are also part of the Volkswagen lineup.
The engine was installed on:
- Chrysler Sebring 3 (JS) in 2006 – 2010;
- Dodge Avenger 1 (JS) in 2007 – 2011;
- Dodge Caliber 1 (PM) in 2006 – 2011;
- Dodge Journey 1 (JC) in 2008 – 2011;
- Jeep Compass 1 (MK) in 2007 – 2010;

Disadvantages of the ECD engine
The majority of engine issues are caused by the whims of piezoelectric pump injectors; traction failures are also frequently caused by the turbine’s wedge geometry;
The timing belt is intended to last 120,000 kilometers, and the engine will typically die if it breaks;
Numerous owners have reported using up to one liter of oil every thousand kilometers;
This diesel model has an EGR valve that frequently wedges, but it lacks a particulate filter.
