The popular Ram pickup truck and the Durango SUV were equipped with the 5.7-liter 16-valve V8 Dodge EZA engine, which was manufactured in Mexico between 2003 and 2009. Neither an MDS cylinder deactivation system nor an EGR valve were present in this power unit.

Internal combustion engines EZB, EZH, ESF, and ESG are also part of the HEMI series.
The engine was installed on:
- Dodge Durango 2 (HB) in 2003 – 2009;
- Dodge Ram 3 (DT) in 2003 – 2009.

Disadvantages of the EZA engine
Despite their high fuel consumption, these engines are not regarded as problematic;
This engine is the most dependable in the line since it does not have an MDS system;
There were instances of valve seats falling out on power units in the early years of production;
The engine occasionally produces odd noises while running, known as “Hemi ticking.” Since each cylinder uses two candles, it is important to take this into account when replacing them.
