Since 2012, the company has been manufacturing the 2.4-liter Jeep ED6 or Tigershark gasoline engine, which powers its most well-known models, including the Cherokee, Compass, and Renegade. A unique cylinder head with MultiAir technology sets this power unit apart.

There is still just one motor in the Tigershark series.
The engine was mounted on:
- Chrysler 200 2 (UF) in 2014 – 2016;
- Dodge Dart 1 (PF) in 2012 – 2016;

Disadvantages of the ED6 engine
Since this motor hasn’t been manufactured in a while, comprehensive failure data hasn’t been gathered;
Owners typically lament excessive oil consumption on specialized forums;
Using a thicker lubricant from an oil burner on low runs usually helps;
Long-term oil waste has clogged the MultiAir channels, and fixing them is expensive;
Oil getting into spark plug wells is a common cause of ignition coil failure.
