From 1988 to 1998, a Japanese factory assembled the 2.8-liter Isuzu 4JB1 diesel engine, which was installed on well-known concern models like the Trooper, Wizard, and Faster pickup truck. Many Chinese companies have now mastered the production of clones of this unit.

Diesels 4JB1, 4JX1, 4JG2, 4JJ1, and 4JJ3 are also part of the J-engine line.

Disadvantages of the Isuzu 4JB1 engine
Although Zexel fuel equipment operates for a long time, there are issues with its spare parts; these are very dependable diesel engines, analogues of which are frequently used in industry;
Keep an eye on the timing belt’s condition; if it breaks, at least the rods will bend; occasionally it breaks the crankshaft’s keyway and cuts off the oil pump’s gears;
The regulations mandate that the valves’ thermal clearances be changed every 40,000 kilometers.
