The Rio model had a 1.5-liter Kia A5D engine, which was assembled at a South Korean company between 1999 and 2005. The Asian version of the Spectra had a similar S5D engine. This device was a hybrid of two Mazda engines: a cylinder head from the B5-DE and a block from the Z5-DE.

A3E, A5D, BFD, S5D, A6D, S6D, T8D, FED, and FEE are Kia-made engines.

Disadvantages of the Kia A5D engine
Although this device is dependable, it is not the most inventive, and wear is the main cause of its issues;
The timing belt has a very short lifespan—sometimes less than 50,000 km—and the valves bend when it breaks;
Oil consumption frequently manifests near 200,000 km as a result of ring and cap wear;
The oil pump pressure relief valve frequently jams here due to inexpensive grease;
The ignition system, which consists of candles, coils, and their wiring, is another one of the engine’s weak points.
