Engine Mercedes M177

AMG versions of the C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, G-Class, and GLS-Class are equipped with the Mercedes M177’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which has only been assembled in Germany since 2015. There is a hybrid version with an electric motor that generates 22 horsepower and 250 Nm in addition to the standard one.

Disadvantages of the Mercedes M177 engine

Initially, this engine is not very fond of tuning; its connecting rods are not strong enough;
However, if you maintain it properly, it won’t bother you and has a good service life in stock.
Even the use of Nanoslide coating in place of cast iron sleeves is problem-free;
Using only premium fuel is crucial to preventing injector failure;
On runs of up to 100,000 kilometers, some owners experienced oil pump failure; on specialized forums, they frequently complain about spark plug and ignition coil leaks and short service lives.
To replace the turbine oil pipeline and drain plug, a recall campaign was implemented.
