Daimler-Benz AG produces the Mercedes-Benz OM352, an in-line six-cylinder direct injection diesel engine. It was created in 1963 at the Mercedes-Benz facility in Mannheim and debuted at the Genfer Auto-Salon in 1964. The engine was also offered as the OM 352 A with a turbocharger starting in 1966. Later, multi-fuel versions with an intercooler were developed based on the 352 OM model. For instance, a gasoline engine (M 352) was developed for NATO.
The OM352 can be used for stationary installations as well as military, naval, municipal, and agricultural equipment. The OM352A turbocharged version and the OM352LA, which has an intercooler and turbocharger, are two examples of the engine’s various trim and power settings.

When new emission regulations were implemented in the early 1990s, OM 352 came to an end because its development potential had already been largely utilized. With more than 300,000 units, it was one of the most popular truck engines in Germany in the late 1970s.
