The popular ASX crossover and some Lancer X models are equipped with the 1.8-liter gasoline Mitsubishi 4J10, which has been manufactured at a plant in Japan since 2012. A new cylinder head with a single 16-valve camshaft and VVL system sets this unit apart from the 4B10.

The 4J11 and 4J12 engines are also part of the 4J1 family.
The engine was mounted on:
- Mitsubishi ASX GA since 2013;
- Mitsubishi Lancer CY since 2012.

Disadvantages of the Mitsubishi 4J10 engine
The majority of reviews on specialized forums are favorable.
The motor’s various noises and vibrations are the primary source of complaints from the owners.
The quality of the oil used in modern MIVEC and VVL systems is crucial.
Every 50,000 kilometers, the valve clearances must be adjusted because there are no hydraulic lifters.
