Engine MMZ D-260

In addition to producing industrial and agricultural machinery, Minsk Motor Plant produces a variety of internal combustion engines for buses. In 1992, MMZ introduced the 6-cylinder diesel D-260, which had an in-line cast iron cylinder block with wet cast iron liners and oil nozzles for piston cooling. Engineers installed steel connecting rods, aluminum pistons with a diameter of 110 mm, and a steel crankshaft with a piston stroke of 125 mm (main journal diameter 85.25 mm, connecting rod journals 73 mm) in this block. With all of this, a working volume of 7.12 liters is achievable.

A cast-iron head with twelve valves and inserted valve seats covers the cylinder block. The cylinder head does not have a camshaft; instead, it stands in the block and acts on the valves using pushers, rods, and rocker arms. The intake and exhaust valves measure 48 and 42 mm, respectively, and the stem is 11 mm thick. The D-260 valves must be adjusted as necessary, but every 500 hours of operation, the clearances must be examined. The inlet and outlet valve clearances should be 0.25 mm and 0.45 mm, respectively. The internal combustion engine operates in the same order that the valves are adjusted: 1-5-3-6-2-4. 2.8–4.5 kgf/cm of oil pressure

The D-260 diesel has a TKR 7 turbocharger and a YAZDA 363 fuel pump. Production of a version for the Euro-1 standard started in 1998, and the D-260 diesel was added to the Euro-2 standard in 2001. Euro-3 motors, which debuted on the conveyor in 2005 and were identified by the use of Common rail injection with a Bosch CPN2.2 fuel pump and a Bosch EDC7UC31 ECU, came next.

Engine device D260

Diesel engines are used in locations where air exchange is unrestricted. Diesel engines are made to run in ambient temperatures between +40°C and -45°C. High-energy wheeled tractors (D-260.1 and D-260.2), tracked tractors (D-260.14), forage harvesters (D-260.4), energy-rich energy devices UES-250 (D-260.7), and other machines are powered by diesel D-260.1 and its modifications. Diesel engines are built to last for a long time without requiring significant repairs, provided that proper maintenance, storage, and operation are followed.

There are numerous functional components, assemblies, and systems in this model’s power unit. Primary roles:

  • block of cylinders;
  • cylinder head block heads 2 pieces;
  • crank mechanism;
  • gas distribution mechanism;
  • fuel system;
  • turbocharger;
  • cooling system;
  • lubrication system.
