Engine Nissan QG18DE

From 1998 to 2006, the company’s factories produced the 1.8-liter Nissan QG18DE engine, also known as QG18, which was fitted to the Almera, Primera, and other mid-size models. The power unit was a gas version with 105 horsepower and its own index, QG18DEN.

Nissan cars with QG18DE engines had high torque at low revs. Such an engine is thought to be extremely economical; its fuel consumption is fixed at roughly 7 liters per 100 kilometers, and it produces 97% of its torque in a low range of 2400–4800 rpm. A unique design of the piston crown with a neutralizer surface of up to 50% ensures low toxicity and environmental cleanliness.

The QG13DE, QG15DE, QG16DE, and QG18DD internal combustion engines are also members of the QG family.

The engine was installed on:

  • Nissan Almera 2 (N16) in 2000 – 2006;
  • Nissan Almera Tino 1 (V10) in 2000 – 2006;
  • Nissan Avenir 2 (W11) in 1998 – 2005;
  • Nissan Bluebird Sylphy N16 in 2000 – 2006;
  • Nissan Primera 2 (P11) in 1998 – 2002;
  • Nissan Primera 3 (P12) in 2001 – 2008;
  • Nissan Sentra 5 (B15) in 2000 – 2006;
  • Nissan Wingroad 2 (Y11) in 1999 – 2005.

Disadvantages of the QG18DE engine

The timing chain causes the most issues; it frequently rings after 100,000 kilometers;
Complaints regarding oil consumption, which can begin even at low mileage, follow;
Antifreeze seeps into the ECU through the idle valve gasket;
The throttle and EGR valve must be cleaned on a regular basis to ensure the motor runs smoothly;
The network details instances where the catalyst is destroyed when the crumbs are compressed into the cylinder.
