The company produced the 4.5-liter Nissan TB45 engine in Japan between 1997 and 2002, and it was fitted to a customized Patrol SUV intended for the Middle Eastern market. The TB45S carburetor and TB45E injection versions of this unit were available. The stroke stayed at 96 mm (3.78 in), but the cylinder bore was increased to 99.5 mm (3.92 in).

Internal combustion engines TB42 and TB48DE are also members of the TB family.

Disadvantages of the TB45 engine
Although this engine uses a lot of fuel, it is very reliable and has a long service life;
On the forums, ignition issues are frequently discussed, but everything is straightforward and inexpensive there;
Many people experience shaking when at idle; valve adjustment can help;
The timing chain is frequently extended by a distance of roughly 200–250 thousand kilometers;
Watch out for overheating, as the motor’s compression may vanish and oil burn may start.
