Engine Peugeot DW8

Since 1997, the popular Partner and civilian models 206 or 306 have been equipped with the 1.9-liter 8-valve Peugeot DW8 or WJZ diesel engine. This unit’s index changed to DW8B or WJY in 2000 as a result of the switch to EURO 3 environmental standards.

Diesel engines DW10TD and DW12TED4 are also part of the DW line.

  • Fiat Scudo I in 1999 – 2006;
  • Toyota Corolla 8 (E110) in 2000 – 2002.

Disadvantages of the Peugeot DW8 engine

The only drawback of this diesel engine is its low power; it has no reliability issues.
Constant fogging around the valve cover is a common complaint from owners;
The engine’s rough running suggests that the valves need to be adjusted;
There is a significant chance that the timing belt will be harmed if the accessory belt breaks.
