Engine Toyota 1KR-VE

Only Southeast Asian compact models are equipped with the 1.0-liter Toyota 1KR-VE engine, which has been manufactured in Japan since 2016. A variable valve timing system (VVT-i) is installed at the intake of the aluminum three-cylinder unit with a timing chain drive.

Disadvantages of the 1KR-VE engine

The motor’s loud operation and strong vibrations are criticized in Asian forums;
Typically, the timing chain is extended to 100,000 km and the pump is abandoned at 50,000 km.
