Engine Toyota 2NR-FKE

Since 2015, the company’s Japanese plant has been assembling the 1.5-liter Toyota 2NR-FKE engine exclusively for the local auto market. This engine has a proprietary VVT-iE variable valve timing system and runs on an economical Atkinson cycle with a compression ratio of 13.5:1.

The engines in the NR family are 3NR-FE, 8NR-FTS, 1NR-FE, 1NR-VE, 1NR-FKE, 2NR-FE, 2NR-VE, and 2NR-FKE.

  • Toyota Corolla Axio E160 since 2015;
  • Toyota Corolla Fielder E160 since 2015;
  • Toyota Porte XP140 since 2015;
  • Toyota Sienta XP170 since 2015.

Disadvantages of the 2NR-FKE engine

This engine dislikes subpar fuel and engine oil;
Many owners report loud noises during a cold start and a small oil burner;
The intake manifold’s carbon deposits have already accumulated over a 30,000-kilometer run; the water pump and ignition coils have a comparatively small resource.
