The company’s most potent SUVs and pickup trucks were equipped with the 4.7-liter Toyota 2UZ-FE engine, which was manufactured exclusively at the American plant in Alabama between 1998 and 2012. This engine was produced in two versions at different times, one with the VVT-i variable valve timing system and the other without.

The 1UZ-FE and 3UZ-FE engines are part of the UZ family.
The engine was mounted on:

- Toyota Land Cruiser 100 (J100) in 1998 – 2007; Land Cruiser 200 (J200) in 2007 – 2011;

Disadvantages of the 2UZ-FE engine
The enormous fuel consumption is the main drawback;
The thermal clearances of the valves must be adjusted on a regular basis;
a tiny timing belt and pump resource, frequently less than 100,000 kilometers;
This engine’s dependability is simply outstanding in every other way. The hydraulic tensioner breaks very easily when the timing belt is changed.
