The heavy industry has used the versatile Volvo D6A210 engines for both land transportation and marine applications.

The same electronics found in the Volvo FH, FM, and NH series are installed in the entire engine series. This makes it possible for many of the most crucial parts and assemblies of trucks FL to achieve full functional compliance, which surely makes diagnosing malfunctions easier. In contrast to the later D6B, the D6A210 has a mechanical fuel injection control.
