From 1987 to 1995, Peugeot produced the 1.8-liter XUD7TE or A8A diesel engine, which was fitted to several of its own models as well as vehicles made by other automakers. The Peugeot 205 and 309 were equipped with an engine that produced 78 horsepower and 157 Nm in the XUD7T version without an intercooler.

XUD7, XUD7TE, XUD9, XUD9SD, XUD9TE, XUD11A, and XUD11ATE are all part of the XUD series.
The engine was mounted on:
- Peugeot 405 I (D6/D7) in 1987 – 1992;
- Citroen BX in 1992 – 1994;
- Honda Concerto in 1989 – 1994;
- Rover 200 in 1989 – 1995;
- Rover 400 in 1990 – 1995.

Disadvantages of the XUD7TE engine
The expansion tank’s low location is linked to numerous engine issues;
The engine boils and punctures the gasket as a result of a drop in coolant;
A turbocharger’s performance is rapidly impacted by low-quality oil;
Additionally, the frequency of fuel filter replacement has a significant impact on the injection pump’s service life;
You will need to manually adjust the valve clearances because there are no hydraulic lifters.
