From 2006 to 2012, the company produced the 2.0-liter 16-valve Volvo B4204S3 engine, which was used in the C30, S40, and V50 models on the Focus 2 platform as well as the S80 sedan. Such a motor was essentially a copy of the AODA power unit, as was its FlexiFuel version B4204S4.

The Ford engine lineup consists of B4164S3, B4164T, B4184S11, and B4204T6.
The engine was mounted on:
- Volvo C30 I (533) in 2006 – 2012;
- Volvo S40 II (544) in 2006 – 2012;
- Volvo S80 II (124) in 2006 – 2010;
- Volvo V50 I (545) in 2006 – 2012;
- Volvo V70 III (135) in 2007 – 2010.

Disadvantages of the B4204S3 engine
The most well-known issue with this motor is the oil burner because of rings;
Swirl flaps that are constantly jammed in the intake rank second in terms of mass; idle speeds frequently float here, and the electric throttle is typically to blame;
Low-quality fuel causes the fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator to malfunction;
The timing chain and phase regulator frequently need to be replaced after 200,000 kilometers.
