The C30, S40, and V50 models built on the Focus 2 platform were equipped with the 1.6-liter Volvo B4164S3 engine, which was assembled at Ford factories between 2005 and 2011. The motor, which was a clone of the HWDA, changed to an open cooling jacket in 2007 and became the SHDA.

The B4164T, B4184S11, B4204S3, and B4204T6 engines are part of the Ford lineup.
The engine was set up on:
- Volvo C30 I (533) in 2006 – 2011;
- Volvo S40 II (544) in 2005 – 2011;
- Volvo V50 I (545) in 2005 – 2011.

Disadvantages of the B4164S3 engine
This engine is straightforward and dependable, but it detests low-quality fuel.
Candles and ignition coils are the first to fail due to poor gasoline.
For the same reason, the original fuel pump is very costly and does not last very long here.
Keep a close eye on the timing belt’s condition; if it breaks, the valves will bend.
The valve clearances must be adjusted once every 100,000 kilometers, and there are no hydraulic lifters.
