From 1994 to 2000, the 2.5-liter Opel X25XE or Ecotec L80 engine was manufactured in England and fitted to charged versions of popular models like the Vectra, Omega, and Calibra. It was also suggested to modify this power unit with the X25XEI index for even greater power.

The X20SE, X20XEV, X22SE, X22XE, and X30XE engines are also part of the X20 series.
The engine was mounted on:
- Opel Calibra A (C89) in 1996 – 1997;
- Opel Omega B (V94) in 1994 – 2000;
- Opel Vectra B (J96) in 1995 – 2000.

Disadvantages of the X25XE engine
Grease frequently seeps out from beneath the valve cover and occasionally seeps into the spark plug wells;
The lubricant enters the antifreeze from the oil cooler, which is not renowned for being tight;
In the event of damage, the oil receiver, which is near the sump, blocks it;
The timing belt resource is about 60,000 kilometers, and if it breaks, the valves will bend 100%. This engine is cold-sensitive, and it will have trouble starting in severe frost.
