Since 2000, the company’s Japanese plant has been producing the 2.4-liter Toyota 2AZ-FXE engine, which powers the Camry, Estima, and Alphard, three of its most well-known hybrid models. They sell their own version of this motor with the 3AZ-FXE index in the Chinese market.

The engines 1AZ-FE, 1AZ-FSE, 2AZ-FE, and 2AZ-FSE are also part of the AZ family.
The engine was mounted on:
- Toyota Alphard AH10 in 2005 – 2008; Alphard AH20 in 2008 – 2015;
- Toyota Camry XV40 in 2006 – 2011; Camry XV50 in 2011 – 2017;
- Toyota Estima XR30 in 2001 – 2005; Estima XR50 since 2006;
- Toyota Sai K10 in 2009 – 2017;
- Lexus HS 250h F10 since 2009.

Disadvantages of the Toyota 2AZ-FXE engine
Up until 2007, a coolant leak was caused by the cylinder head bolt threads breaking; motors released after that year typically experience a progressive oil burn; throttle fouling is the primary cause of floating rpm;
The chain stretches after 150,000 km, and the pump resource typically doesn’t go beyond 50,000 km. A recall was issued in 2010 because of a potential fuel leak in the event of an accident.
