Engine Hyundai-Kia D4HE

Since 2020, the popular Sorento and Santa Fe crossovers, as well as the Carnival minivan, have been equipped with the 2.2-liter Hyundai-Kia D4HE or Smartstream D 2.2 CRDi engine. This new generation of diesel units has a timing belt and an aluminum block.

Disadvantages of the Hyundai D4HE engine

There is no information regarding the breakdowns of this diesel engine, which was only recently introduced;
Here, more dependable electromagnetic injectors have replaced erratic piezo injectors;
A belt is now used in place of timing chains; let’s see what resources it will have.
The new aluminum block’s long-term performance is unknown;
There is, of course, an EGR valve and a particulate filter, which will cause issues.
