From 1991 to 2002, a Japanese company produced the 2.2-liter Honda H22A engine, which was used in sports versions of the Accord model and the well-liked Prelude coupe. There were two versions of the motor available: one with a black cover that was less powerful and another with a red cover that was more powerful.

The H22 engine is a part of the “H” series of motors that Honda Motor produced between 1991 and 2001. Although the family has many similarities to the “F” series, they are undoubtedly better designed and have different dynamics, force, and power. The top-end Honda vehicles were supposed to have their engines installed. Almost no issues arise during operation when motors “run out” of 250,000 kilometers. It’s true that low-cost tuning isn’t offered here because the designers have done everything they could.
The H23A is an internal combustion engine that is part of the H-series.
The engine was mounted on:
- Honda Accord 5 (CD) in 1993 – 1997;
- Honda Accord 6 (CG) in 1997 – 2002;
- Honda Prelude 4 (BA8) in 1991 – 1996;
- Honda Prelude 5 (BB) in 1996 – 2001.

Disadvantages of the Honda H22A engine
Although these engines are highly dependable, their increasing oil consumption is a common complaint.
Additionally, oil tends to leak from plugs, gaskets, seals, and pressure sensors.
Electrical problems can occasionally cause the car to react poorly to the gas pedal.
Antifreeze leaks here are typically caused by another burst tube.
Every 40,000 kilometers, the valves will need to be adjusted because there are no hydraulic lifters.
