From 1991 to 1997, the 2.2-liter Honda F22B engine was manufactured at the company’s Japanese facility and fitted to well-known models like the Accord, Prelude, and Odyssey minivan. Both SOHC and DOHC versions of the F22B power unit, with and without the VTEC system, were manufactured.

Internal combustion engines F18B, F20A, F20B, F20C, and F23A are also part of the F-series.
The engine was mounted on:
- Acura CL 1 (YA) in 1996 – 1997;
- Honda Accord 5 (CD) in 1993 – 1997;
- Honda Odyssey 1 (RA) in 1994 -1999;
- Honda Prelude 4 (BA8) in 1991 – 1996;
- Honda Prelude 5 (BB) in 1996 – 2001.

Disadvantages of the Honda F22B engine
Regular oil and coolant leaks are the motor’s main complaints.
Rings typically lie down and the oil burn starts after 100–150 thousand kilometers.
Unstable engine operation is frequently caused by a dirty EGR or idle valve.
Keep an eye on the timing belt’s condition; it has a 90,000 km lifespan and bends the valve when it breaks.
The valves are adjusted every 40,000 kilometers due to the lack of hydraulic compensators.
Honda F22 Engine Modifications

The F22A1 engine, which powers the Accord and Prelude, has a compression ratio of 8.8 and produces 125 horsepower at 5200 rpm for the Accord and an additional 10 horsepower for the American Prelude through control unit customization.
The European market version, F22A3/F22A7, has a compression ratio of 9.8, camshafts from F22A6, an outlet from F22A4, and 150 horsepower at 5900 rpm.
The F22A4 is an analog of the F22A1 with a different outlet and 130 horsepower at 5200 rpm.
The F22A6 is an analog of the F22A1, but it has a different camshaft, intake, outlet, and control unit setting. At 5600 rpm, power rose to 140 horsepower.
Australia’s equivalent of F22A6 is F22A9.
Similar to F22A and H23A, F22B has a twin-shaft cylinder head and a 9.3 compression ratio. At 6000 rpm, these DOHC motors produce 160 horsepower.
The F22B1 and F22A engines are comparable, but the heads of these engines have a fuel-efficient VTEC system.
The F22 engine’s top model is the F22C1.
