From 1997 to 2003, the company produced the 2.3-liter Honda F23A gasoline engine, which was fitted to popular Japanese models like the Accord and the Odyssey minivan. They provided two versions of the F23A motor, one with and one without the VTEC phase control system.
Internal combustion engines F18B, F20A, F20B, F20C, and F22B are also part of the F-series.
The engine was mounted on:
- Acura CL 1 (YA) in 1997 – 1999;
- Honda Accord 6 (CG) in 1997 – 2002;
- Honda Odyssey 1 (RA) in 1994 -1999;
- Honda Odyssey 1 USA (RA) in 1994 – 1998;
- Honda Odyssey 2 (RA6) in 1999 – 2003.

Disadvantages of the Honda F23A engine
After 100,000 kilometers, owners of cars with this engine typically complain about oil consumption.
Complaints about frequent coolant and oil leaks rank second.
A dirty idle valve and EGR are typically the cause of tripping and floating engine speeds.
The timing belt will bend the valves if you don’t replace it after about 90,000 kilometers.
Every 40,000 kilometers, the valves must be adjusted because there are no hydraulic lifters.
