For trucks and semitrailer tractors, Mercedes has created a new 4-cylinder OM924LA engine that can lift between 6.5 and 15 tonnes. These motors provide a great balance between low weight and performance.

The Mercedes OM 924 LA weighs roughly 100 kg less than a 6-cylinder engine with the same specifications. In terms of payload, this offers a substantial advantage. The Mercedes OM924LA engine was later modified in a number of ways by the developers. These were more powerful and efficient six-cylinder engines.
