Engine Volkswagen CFNB

From 2010 to 2016, the Chemnitz plant produced the 1.6-liter Volkswagen CFNB engine, which was used in the base Jetta and the highly popular Polo Sedan. The power characteristics were the only difference between this power unit and the comparable CFNA.

Disadvantages of the VW CFNB engine

Knocking in the cylinder-piston group is the unit’s most well-known issue.
Under warranty, the manufacturer replaced the pistons, but eventually the issue reappeared.
Depending on the driving style, the timing chain can already reach 100–150 thousand kilometers.
Welding does not provide long-term relief from the exhaust manifold’s frequent cracks.
Additionally, the throttle block and left engine mount have limited resources.
