The company produced the 3.0-liter Volkswagen CASA 3.0 TDI engine between 2007 and 2011, but it was only fitted to two of the company’s highly popular SUVs: the Touareg GP and Q7 4L. The Porsche Cayenne’s first and second generations, designated M05.9D and M05.9E, had this motor installed.

BPP, ASB, BMK, BKS, BUG, CASA, and CCWA are also included in the EA896 series.

Disadvantages of the VW CASA engine
A campaign was launched to replace the high-pressure fuel pump in this diesel engine for free;
Swirl flaps in the intake manifold may jam up to 100,000 kilometers;
Timing chains have a long lifespan of approximately 300,000 kilometers, but they are costly to replace;
Piezo injectors or a turbine may already fail at roughly the same mileage;
The particulate filter and the EGR valve cause numerous expensive issues for the owner.
