Disadvantages of the Audi ASB engine
Intake manifold flaps can jam up to 100,000 kilometers and are terrified of pollution;
Valve burnout frequently happened here in the early years of production because of piezo injector malfunctions;
The timing chain has a lifespan of 200–300 thousand kilometers, and replacing it is highly costly;
The engine merely stalls when the injection pump drive belt breaks after about 100,000 kilometers; closer to 250,000 kilometers, the particulate filter and the EGR valve may already be totally clogged.
