Engine Audi BMK

The company produced the 3.0-liter Audi BMK 3.0 TDI diesel engine between 2004 and 2007, but it was only used in two of its models: the first Volkswagen Phaeton and the A6 in the rear of the C5.

  • Audi A6 C6 (4F) in 2004 – 2006;
  • Volkswagen Phaeton 1 (3D) in 2004 – 2007.

Disadvantages of the Audi BMK engine

Swirl flaps were frequently wedged in the intake manifold even at low mileage; a piezo injector defect caused piston burnout in the early years of production; a very costly timing chain may need to be replaced after 200–300 thousand kilometers;
The timing belt has a short lifespan of about 100,000 kilometers;
Both the EGR valve and the diesel particulate filter are frequently totally clogged at high mileage.
