Produced from 1998 to 2004, the 1.8-liter Ford EYDB engine, also known as the Focus 1 1.8 Zetec, was limited to the first generation of the highly popular Focus model in all of its bodies. On the Mondeo, the same power unit was referred to by a slightly different RKF or RKH index.

The engine was installed on:
- Ford Focus Mk1 in 1998 – 2004.

Disadvantages of the EYDB engine
The Zetec series’ motors are incredibly dependable, but they dislike cheap gasoline; you may need to replace the spark plugs every 10,000 kilometers.
An expensive gasoline pump frequently fails due to low-quality fuel; in the European version of Zetec engines, the valve always bends when the timing belt breaks; and when air conditioning was added to the motor’s initial firmware, power drastically decreased.
