Only charged versions of the redesigned first-generation S-MAX minivan were equipped with the 2.0-liter Ford TPWA turbo engine, also known as the 2.0 EcoBoost 240, which was manufactured between 2010 and 2015. The fourth generation Mondeo model had a similar motor with the TPBA index installed.

Internal combustion engines TPBA, TNBB, and R9DA are also part of the 2.0 EcoBoost line.
The engine was installed on:
- Ford S-MAX Mk1 in 2010 – 2015.

Disadvantages of the TPWA engine
Poor fuel frequently causes direct injection system components to malfunction;
During the initial years of production, there were instances of detonation-related piston destruction;
Frequently, the exhaust manifold bursts, and the turbine may be harmed by its pieces;
After using non-original oil, the phase regulators’ couplings become distorted;
The crankshaft rear oil seal has caused oil leaks for numerous owners.
