The most compact X-Type model was equipped with the Jaguar AJ20 2.1-liter gasoline engine, which was manufactured by the company between 2001 and 2008 but was only available in specific markets. The only power unit in the series without a Duratec V6 family equivalent is this one.

Disadvantages of the Jaguar AJ20 engine
Although this engine is quite uncommon and its parts are costly, it is reasonably dependable;
Air leaks from drying gaskets are the primary cause of the issues;
The electrically driven geometry adjustment system frequently malfunctions, even in the intake;
Grease will push out of all the slots if the crankcase ventilation valve is not cleaned on a regular basis;
Due to the presence of rings, oil consumption is frequently observed here after 200 thousand kilometers.
