Engine Land Rover 15P 2.5 TD5

From 2002 to 2007, the 2.5-liter Land Rover TD5 diesel engine with the 15P index was fitted to a number of Defender SUV modifications and the Discovery 2 under the 16P index. In essence, these power units are Euro 3 versions of 10P or 14P engines, respectively.

  • Land Rover Defender 1 (L316) in 2002 – 2007;
  • Land Rover Discovery 2 (L318) in 2002 – 2004.

Disadvantages of the Land Rover 15P TD5 engine

The majority of issues are brought on by breaks in the wiring beneath the valve cover; the pump-injector drive’s cams and rocker deteriorate rather quickly here; fuel can seep into the oil as a result of damaged injector o-rings; the turbine control valve frequently malfunctions and the wastegate axis jams;
Another common occurrence is cracking of the crankshaft damper pulley and cylinder head.
