From 1986 to 1993, a Japanese factory assembled the 2.2-liter Mazda F2 gasoline engine in multiple versions simultaneously: with a carburetor, distributed injection, or turbocharging. The B2200 pickup truck had 8-valve engines in addition to the standard 12-valve modification.
F6, FP, FP-DE, F8, FE, FE-DE, FE3N, FS, FS-DE, FS-ZE, and F2 are all members of the F-engine family.
The engine was mounted on:
- Mazda 626 GD in 1987 – 1992;
- Mazda 929 HC in 1986 – 1991;
- Mazda B-series 4 (UF) in 1987 – 1993;
- Mazda Capella GD in 1987 – 1992;
- Mazda MX-6 GD in 1987 – 1992;
- Mazda Luce HC in 1986 – 1991.

Disadvantages of the Mazda F2 2.2l engine
Motors with carburetors are challenging to tune, so you’ll need a good specialist;
Owners only complain about ignition system problems with injection versions, which are more dependable;
Due to piston rings, an oil burner is frequently discovered at high mileage;
Although the timing belt resource is roughly 60,000 kilometers long, the valves do not bend here when it breaks;
Low-quality oil will cause the hydraulic lifters to malfunction and start knocking.
