The first generation of the Proudia model and the Dignity limousine built on it were equipped with the 4.5-liter Mitsubishi 8A80 or 4.5 GDi gasoline engine, which was manufactured between 1999 and 2001. This power unit was merely a clone of the well-known Korean V8 engines G8AA and G8AB.

The engine was installed on:
- Mitsubishi Dignity 1 (S43) in 1999 – 2001;
- Mitsubishi Proudia 1 (S32) in 1999 – 2001.

Disadvantages of the Mitsubishi 8A80 engine
Only quality 98 gasoline is needed for the engine; otherwise, the fuel system will malfunction;
Here, the intake valves rapidly become overgrown with soot and stop closing firmly;
Catalysts break down after 100,000 kilometers, and crumbs clog the exhaust;
Keep a close eye on the timing belt’s condition because a break can be fatal to the device;
However, the engine’s primary issues are its scarcity and the exorbitant price of replacement parts.
