Caravan minibuses and pickup trucks are equipped with the 2.5-liter Nissan TD25 diesel engine, which was manufactured between 1985 and 2015 mainly for use in taxis. This power unit is renowned for its enormous resource and high dependability.

The TD23, TD27, TD27ETi, and TD42 internal combustion engines are part of the TD series.
The engine was mounted on:
- Nissan Caravan E24 in 1986 – 2001;
- Nissan Cedric 7 (Y31) in 1990 – 2015;
- Nissan Homy E24 in 1986 – 2001;
- Nissan Navara 1 (D21) in 1985 – 1997.

Disadvantages of the TD25 engine
The timing gear drive malfunction causes the power unit to vibrate and make noise;
After 200,000 kilometers, the phases start to deviate from the timing as the gears gradually deteriorate;
Pump leaks from the gear block gasket occur somewhere along the same mileage;
Only the oil pressure sensor and crankshaft position are defective on the electrical side;
The jumpers between the cylinder head’s vortex chambers are destroyed by detonation brought on by faulty fuel.
