From 1998 to 2007, a Japanese company assembled the 2.5-liter Nissan VQ25DD engine, which was fitted to well-known models like the Cefiro, Cedric, Stagea, and Skyline. Because of the NEO-Di direct injection system, this engine has very high fuel quality requirements.

Internal combustion engines VQ20DE, VQ23DE, VQ25DE, VQ25DET, and VQ25HR are also part of the VQ20 series.
The engine was mounted on:
- Nissan Cefiro 3 (A33) in 1998 – 2002;
- Nissan Cedric 10 (Y34) in 1999 – 2004;
- Nissan Gloria 11 (Y34) in 1999 – 2004;
- Nissan Skyline 11 (V35) in 2001 – 2006;
- Nissan Stagea 2 (M35) in 2001 – 2007.

Disadvantages of the VQ25DD engine
Nozzles and a high-pressure fuel pump frequently malfunction due to low-quality fuel in the engine; the catalyst is destroyed by bad gasoline, and its crumbs are drawn into the combustion chamber; scuffs develop on the cylinder wall, which causes a progressive oil burn;
The cylinder head’s mating surface warps even with brief overheating; after 200,000 kilometers, you will probably need to replace all of the timing chains.
