From 1986 to 1996, the Japanese company produced the 3.0-liter Nissan VG30DET engine, which was exclusively used in the Leopard coupe and large sedans like the Sima, Cedric, and Gloria. With a Garrett T3 turbine, this power unit produced 255 horsepower and 343 Nm of power.

Internal combustion engines VG30i, VG30E, VG30ET, VG30DE, and VG30DETT are also part of the VG30 family.
The engine was mounted on:
- Nissan Cima 1 (Y31) in 1988 – 1991;
- Nissan Cima 2 (Y32) in 1991 – 1996;
- Nissan Cedric 7 (Y31) in 1987 – 1991;
- Nissan Cedric 8 (Y32) in 1991 – 1995;
- Nissan Gloria 9 (Y32) in 1991 – 1995;
- Nissan Leopard 2 (F31) in 1988 – 1992.

Disadvantages of the VG30DET engine
The exhaust manifold is the motor’s problematic area; it simply cracks; additionally, the gasket frequently burns in the outlet and breaks when the fastening stud is removed;
Frequent crankshaft shank breakage puts the engine at risk of valve bending;
The same outcome occurs when a timing belt breaks; its resource is roughly 70,000 kilometers;
Make regular contact with the service to have the upper radiator cap and pump replaced.
