From 2008 to 2015, the 1.8-liter Opel A18XER or Ecotec 2H0 engine was assembled in Hungary and fitted to well-known company models like the Mokka, Insignia, and two Zafira generations. Among all the group’s units at the time, A-XER motors are thought to be the most dependable.

A12XER, A14XER, A14NET, A16XER, A16LET, and A16XHT are all part of the A10 line.
The engine was mounted on:
- Opel Insignia A (G09) in 2008 – 2013;
- Opel Mokka A (J13) in 2013 – 2015;
- Opel Zafira B (A05) in 2010 – 2014; Zafira C (P12) in 2011 – 2015.

Disadvantages of the A18XER engine
The ignition system, particularly the coil module, causes the most issues;
Leaks in oil coolers are also frequent; replacing the gasket usually helps;
Phase regulators in this generation of motors are more dependable, but occasionally they malfunction;
An unreliable crankcase ventilation system is the engine’s weak point;
Remember to use measuring cups to adjust valve clearances.
