Disadvantages of the VW BRT engine

Rapid wear on the oil pump’s hex is a known engine issue;
Although unit-injectors have a good lifespan of 200–250 thousand kilometers, replacement is expensive;
Additionally, this diesel engine has a maximum oil consumption of 1 liter per 1000 kilometers;
The turbine’s geometry frequently wedges due to pollution, and there are occasional thrust dips;
A clogged particulate filter is another factor contributing to erratic engine performance.
