From 2003 to 2009, only the well-liked T5 Transporter minibus line was equipped with the 2.5-liter Volkswagen AXD 2.5 TDI diesel engine. This five-cylinder diesel engine has a BNZ index and a particulate filter in the EURO 4 version.

AAB, AJT, ACV, AXG, BAC, BPE, AXD, AXE, AJS, and AYH are also included in the EA153 series.

Disadvantages of the VW AXD engine
Leaks in the tandem pump and nozzle seals are a major issue;
An aluminum cylinder block without liners is prone to scuffing and is terrified of bad diesel fuel;
Grease mixes with antifreeze and oil system heat exchangers frequently leak;
Rockers, camshaft lobes, or injectors may wear out after 250,000 kilometers;
There are plenty of other malfunctions here, but they are less frequent and less costly.
