Engine Volkswagen BKD

Produced between 2003 and 2011, the 2.0-liter Volkswagen BKD 2.0 TDI diesel engine was fitted with a transverse power unit on several of the German company’s models. Such a diesel engine avoided issues with the oil pump’s hexagon and lacked balance shafts.

Disadvantages of the VW BKD engine

Antifreeze leaks were common in the early years of production because of cylinder head cracks;
Additionally, these motors frequently use up to one liter of oil every 1000 kilometers;
Unit-injectors are highly costly and have a resource of roughly 200–250 thousand kilometers;
the throttle’s plastic gears and the turbine’s geometry to prevent pollution;
For the owner, a clogged EGR valve or particulate filter causes numerous issues.
